Wendy Yang is a costume designer for productions including television, films, theater, commercials, and music videos. From to experimental theatre in Bushwick blackboxes to multi-million dollar film sets, Wendy has over twenty years of professional experience in the fashion and entertainment industries. Wendy has apprenticed with top costume designers including Amy Westcott and Stacey Battat on projects including The OA (Netflix), The Many Saints of Newark (HBO), Gloria Bell (FilmNation), and The Good Nurse (Netflix).
Born in Hong Kong and raised between cultures and continents, Wendy expresses her Asian-American, mixed race identity and upbringing by bringing an eclectic, global perspective to her designs. Wendy has sought to celebrate the human inside the clothing, finding beauty and humor in both the eccentric and the mundane. Storytelling through costume is her grown-up answer to a nomadic childhood, bringing to life real and imagined characters from a peregrine youth.
Wendy is currently Costume Designer of Dean Imperial’s debut feature, CAPER. She was Associate Costume Designer (ep 1 - 7) and Co-Costume Designer (ep 8) with Amy Westcott on Amazon/Kilter Films’ upcoming series FALLOUT, based on the retro-futuristic, post-apocalyptic video game; and the Costume Designer of Julia Jonas’ new play Your Own Personal Exegesis (world premier - Claire Tow Theatre at Lincoln Center), for which she was nominated for a Henry Hewes Design Award.
